In the olden days, Alaskan adventurers stashed their provisions in caches: tiny log cabins built high above the ground to keep their food, equipment, and riches away from animals, safe from fire, and out of the harsh elements. Our rarest, most unique beers are kept as a cache of their own: stashed away until we think they are perfect to share with the world as releases from our Cache Collection.

Two of the newest of these exemplary beers will be available only at the Cache Collection table at our Downtown Anchorage Brewpub’s Holiday Market later this week on Friday 11/24, Saturday 11/25 and Sunday 11/26 from 12pm to 5pm. These releases are both barrel-aged variants of our Seward’s Folly Russian Imperial Stout, which itself just won the gold medal for Best Imperial Ale in Alaska at the 2023 Alaska Beer Awards. Without a doubt, they are two of the finest beers we have ever created.

Red Wine Barrel-Aged Seward’s Folly is a release of just 479 bottles from a batch that spent over 27 months in Cabernet Sauvignon barrels. Bold notes of dark chocolate-covered cherries swirl into notes of black currants, dried raspberries, blackstrap molasses, toasted graham crackers, and espresso crema in a luxurious flavor experience.

When you bring a glass of Laphroaig Barrel-Aged Seward’s Folly to your nose and breathe in the bold aromas of peat smoke, whispers of seaweed, and echoes of ocean brine, you may think you are drinking a snifter of heavily peated mature Islay Scotch. Continue on with a sip to experience the smoky Scotch notes transitioning to intense dark chocolate, gooey molasses, and dried dark fruit in unique layers of exceptional complexity. This release of just 847 bottles is a blend of a batch of Seward’s Folly that spent over 27 months in two hand-selected barrels from Laphroaig, one of our favorite Islay Scotch Whiskey distilleries.
